A Snapshot from 30 Years of KDB: Glass Recycling Comes to Denton

It’s hard to imagine not having the convenience of single-stream curbside recycling, but not too long ago, Denton was just getting started. The photo below shows a momentous day for Keep Denton Beautiful when glass recycling was first introduced in Denton in 1990. Pictured here in the middle is KDB’s first Executive Director, Cecile Carson, who now works with Keep America Beautiful. Now City of Denton Solid Waste & Recycling runs one of the top operations in the world! It’s exciting to imagine where we will be in the next 30 years!

KDB’s “30th Anniversary Snapshot” is a recurring blog segment, highlighting interesting and lesser-known features of KDB’s history, in honor of the organization’s 30th Anniversary Year.  Acknowledgements to the KDB 30th Anniversary Committee; KDB Board Member, Mannix O’Connor; and former KDB staff member, Nicole Vance for their contributions to this post.
