children’s arbor day 2016: why we give trees to kids!

Held each April at Denton schools, Keep Denton Beautiful’s Children’s Arbor Day is an urban forestry education program. In celebration of National Arbor Day, KDB volunteers visit registered schools to give out free Redbud seedlings to students, and deliver an interactive and educational presentation on the history of Arbor Day, the importance of trees in our community, and how to properly plant a tree or seedling. You can find photos and stats from this year’s program, here.

The students at Koan School made us wonderful, handmade thank you cards. Reading their sweet and funny notes reminds us why we do this program every year!
