Children’s Arbor Day 2017: Trees, trees + more trees!

Every year, Keep Denton Beautiful gives out hundreds of Redbud seedlings to 3rd grade students all across Denton through our Children’s Arbor Day program. Last month, our wonderful KDB volunteer presenters – many of whom were Denton County Master Gardeners – visited 19 registered schools and gave out 1,249 free Redbud seedlings, and delivered an interactive and educational presentations to 1,364 preschool and 3rd grade students on the history of Arbor Day, the importance of trees in our community, and how to properly plant a tree or seedling. This year through the Denton Tree Initiative, as an extension of Children’s Arbor Day, we were able to plant 26 large trees at 13 Denton school campuses!

Thank you to all who participated! Special thanks to Denton ISD for covering Children’s Arbor Day in one of their video segments!
