Great American Cleanup 2012 - A Great Success!
On Saturday, March 3, 2012, Keep Denton Beautiful hosted the 2012 Great American Cleanup, a citywide litter cleanup and community beautification event. More than 1,000 volunteers removed nearly 5,000 lbs. of trash and recycling from the roadways, waterways, community areas, and hiking trails of Denton. Community volunteers, including Boy and Girl Scout Groups, civic groups, local fraternities and sororities, City Council members, and others volunteered their time to clean an amazing 100 linear miles of Denton in just 4 hours!
The Great American Cleanup, directed at the national level by Keep American Beautiful, is the nation's largest litter cleanup and community beautification program. This event is hosted locally by Keep Denton Beautiful. During its 23 year history in the Denton community, the Great American Cleanup has removed an estimated 2 million pounds of litter from our city's streets, drainage ditches, and common areas - all through the efforts of local volunteers. Year after year, these volunteers help make Denton a cleaner, greener, more beautiful place to live, work and play.Interested in volunteering for next year's event?
