Neighborwoods Program
The urban forest is the collection of trees within the city limits. As residents drive down city streets, or play in city parks, or walk along a creek bank, they appreciate a tree canopy and the cover it provides. Re-tree Denton
The Tree Conservation Fund was established to give the citizens of Denton the opportunity to directly finance reforestation efforts in the community. Adopt-a-Spot
Adopt-a-Spot gives civic-minded individuals, organizations, and businesses the opportunity to participate in creating a cleaner, more beautiful Denton. Your group may choose to adopt a park, a drainage way or a city street. The goal is to designate that area as yours to keep clean. Once a group has conducted two of six required annual clean-ups, an Adopt-a-Spot sign with your organization's name or Acronym on it will be installed at your adopted location. Teacher Training
The "Waste In Place" Teacher Training Program is a collaborative effort between KDB and the Denton Independent School District. This is a pilot project in Texas to integrate "Waste in Place" (a national environmental curriculum with hands-on activities) as a supplemental resource to fulfill required teaching elements in the DISD curriculum.
