"Waste in Place" Teacher Training
The "Waste In Place" Teacher Training Program is a collaborative effort between KDB and the Denton Independent School District. This is a pilot project in Texas to integrate "Waste in Place" (a national environmental curriculum with hands-on activities) as a supplemental resource to fulfill required teaching elements in the DISD curriculum.
According to the district’s Science Curriculum Developer Vicky Christenson, workshops will be offered on teacher in-service days, on staff development days, and at the request of schools for their staff. For each 6-week grading period, "Waste In Place" has been officially listed in a teacher resource guide as an approved outside resource, and attached to the specific lessons in the DISD curriculum that it can supplement. For information on in-house teacher training dates, please contact Vicky Christenson at (940) 369-0055 (vchristenson@dentonisd.org) or Rudi Thompson at 565-2994 (rudi@unt.edu).
