Children’s Arbor Day: How We Celebrated!

Every year, Keep Denton Beautiful gives out hundreds of Redbud seedlings to 3rd grade students all across Denton through our Children’s Arbor Day program. This past April, our wonderful KDB volunteer presenters – many of whom were Denton County Master Gardeners – visited 23 registered schools and gave out nearly 1,200 free Redbud seedlings to almost 1,550 students, and delivered an interactive and educational presentation on the history of Arbor Day, the importance of trees in our community, and how to properly plant a tree or seedling. This year through the Denton Tree Initiative, as an extension of Children’s Arbor Day, we were able to plant 24 large trees on Denton school campuses!

Thank you to all who participated! Special thanks to Adrian Samano of Adrian Samano Photography, who took the wonderful photos of the children at the schools.
