CLPP Kickoff Event a Success

On June 14, KDB staff and Board members, along with partners SCRAP Denton, City Council Member, Keely Briggs, and local citizens, kicked-off the Cigarette Litter Prevention Program (CLPP) with a ribbon-cutting of a newly installed cigarette butt receptacle at Quakertown Park. Five other cigarette butt receptacles have been installed throughout Quakertown Park. Read about the CLPP and associated events here. View the City of Denton Newsbreak story about the event here.

KDB Board Members and staff cut ribbon on the new cigarette butt receptacle.

Goals of the campaign:

  • Recycle 1 million cigarette butts
  • Identify Top 10 cigarette litter “hot spots” in Denton
  • Hand out 2400+ CLPP bumper stickers and decals
  • Hand out 1200+ car and pocket ash trays
  • Host 5 cigarette litter prevention workshops
  • Reduce annual cigarette litter in scan locations by 40%

The CLPP is supported by a grant from Keep America Beautiful.

Bronze Leaf - Oscars Style

You may have noticed that it’s award season in Hollywood, but you may not know that it’s also award season here at Keep Denton Beautiful! We may swap our glamorous, floor-length gowns and designer tuxedos for gardening gloves and trash grabbers, but we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Over the last couple of months, we have been honored to receive recognition for many of our programs, ranging from our Cigarette Litter Prevention Program, to our urban forestry programs like Denton Redbud Festival and Children’s Arbor Day.

And the awards are…

We could not do what we do without the support of our members, donors, volunteers, and supporters! Thank you for helping us keep Denton beautiful!
